Letter to Parents

Dear Airline, Dedham and Orrington Families, 9/4/2020

As we begin school next week the state is reviewing our Covid-19 risk for schools  (Risk for Schools) and concurrently our school's ability to have in person instruction on a biweekly basis.  We are currently in a hybrid model based on the ability to meet the required guidelines of the DOE's Framework for Reopening Schools.  Our Hybrid model was designed for safety and to minimize transitions as we progress through this school year.  Our Hybrid model meets the necessary requirements of a yellow designation at this time and we will remain vigilant and watch all the data carefully and will respond accordingly if that situation changes.

Please ensure with the start of school next week that you are following the at home safety checks (Home Screening Tool) that are required before sending your child to school.  In the event that you are unsure of whether to send your child to school or not, contact your school directly.  Our ability to continue to provide in-person instruction is reliant on all of us being able to do our part to keep everyone safe.

If a family plans to travel outside of Maine, other than to those exempted states, please contact your school directly and let them know whether you are planning for COVID-19 Testing or are alternatively planning instead to complete a 14 day quarantine before your child’s return to school.  The Maine state guidance requires this same approach for any student whose family member has traveled to non-exempted states as well.

Thank you for all that you are doing to support our return to in person instruction,

James Stoneton II, Superintendent of Schools
